HighParkCommons is a coworking community dedicated to serving writers, editors, bloggers, journalists and all other writing professionals who need a quiet escape to get things done. Our newly renovated workspace is clean, bright and free of distractions. Members enjoy extended hours, beautiful meeting space, free brewed coffee and tea, a great location by High Park and the lake, and optional COHIP insurance to safeguard their health.
We are proud to offer our services in a brand new, energy-efficient facility. Built in 2012 - 2014 according to the latest building code requirements, the building is foam-insulated throughout and fitted with energy-saving light fixtures and water-saving equipment. (Our ultimate goal is to reduce our ecological footprint close to zero by installing solar panels on the roof.) In aesthetic terms, the modern exterior of the building complements the sleek interior of our workspace. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 10pm, it offers 6 extra-large private desks with ample storage, 12 large shared desks and 3 standing workstations for coworkers who need to stand. The space is divided into two levels, with the common area on the main floor separated from the more secluded dedicated area on the lower level. We also offer an in-house photo gallery, dedicated to various themes on a rotating basis. The gallery is exposed to public viewing during weekend events. Further improvements to the facility have been scheduled to add bicycle parking and a state-of-the-art boardroom.
We are fortunate to be located within a short walk to High Park and only steps to the lake. Thus, our members can enjoy serene nature walks when they need a break. High Park is, indeed, one of Toronto's most beautiful natural treasures and a longtime source of inspiration for Torontonians. The waterfront too is a great asset for jogging or cycling before or after work. (A recent study revealed that 3.5 - 4 hours of regular exercise per week offsets all signs of aging by about 15 years.) We provide storage bins for easy storing of running shoes and helmets. If you live too far to run or cycle to work, we can easily be reached by TTC. We are located within a major transportation hub, with the Dundas St W subway station only 20 min away and frequent service by 501 Queen, 504 King, 505 Dundas West, 506 Carlton and 508 Lakeshore West streetcars. As an environmentally conscious community, we encourage our members to travel in sustainable ways. We hope that ample bicycle parking and easy helmet storage will facilitate this preference.
